Why homeowners pick Murray's for new doors
Authorized Amarr installer
We install every collection on this page from the same supplier the catalog comes from. No knock-off parts, no surprises on color or trim.
General Doors from the source
We buy General Doors through Banner Doors, the General Doors distribution center in Hudson, so every General option in the builder comes from the maker's own catalog.
Written quotes, no pressure
You see the installed price in writing before any work starts. If repair is the smarter call, we'll tell you. Even if it means a smaller invoice.
Door builder and installation FAQ
How long does a new garage door installation take?
Most residential garage door installations are completed in a single day. We remove the old door, fit the new sections, springs and tracks, pair the opener, and test everything before we leave. Larger custom doors or full opener replacements may stretch slightly longer. We'll confirm timing in your written quote.
Which Amarr collections do you install most often?
Lincoln and Heritage are the everyday workhorses for value-conscious installs. Olympus is the most popular insulated upgrade for attached garages. Classica and Designer's Choice carry the steel-carriage look. Vista and Horizon are the contemporary aluminum-and-glass options. Foundry Reserve is the luxury tier.
Which General Doors collections do you install?
Advantage and Newport 138 are the General Doors lines we order most. Advantage is steel on both faces with polystyrene in between; Newport 138 and Newport 200 are polyurethane-filled for a quieter, better-insulated door. For a carriage-house look, Homestead, Advantage Carriage House, Lancaster, Vineyard and Cambridge cover everything from embossed steel to wood composite with overlays. We buy General Doors through Banner Doors, the General Doors distribution center in Hudson.
Insulated vs. non-insulated, which should I pick?
Attached garage, workshop, or a room above the garage: pick an insulated level. Detached storage garage: the single-layer level saves a few hundred dollars. Each construction card in step 2 says in plain words who it suits, with its insulation value and installed price side by side.
Do the prices on this page include installation?
Amarr options in our price book include the Amarr door, 6.25% tax on the door and products you add, installation labor ($600 for a single door, $900 for a door 12 feet wide or more), and $175 to remove and dispose of the old door. General Doors prices use the same terms, but they are estimates from our supplier costs until our 2026 General Doors price sheet arrives, so they show as a wider range. Openers, high-cycle springs, special track, decorative hardware, keypads and remotes are priced as you pick them. A range narrows as you choose the construction level, windows and glass. Color upcharges, SlimLine window frames, clavos and site conditions such as framing repairs are confirmed in your written quote.
Is the preview what my door will actually look like?
For Amarr, the preview is Amarr's own rendered door image for the exact collection, construction, panel, color, window and glass you pick, the same renderer behind Amarr's Design Your Door tool. Carriage Court uses Amarr's product photos, and the custom wood and Foundry Reserve lines show collection photos because Amarr builds those to order. General Doors has no public renderer, so a General door shows our illustrative drawing of your choices; the product page and brochure links show the real doors. If you'd like to see a finished install in person, we have local references and a photo gallery of recent jobs.
What if I don't see what I want?
Every option in the builder is one the maker offers today, pulled from Amarr's and General Doors' own designers. If a collection shows 'custom quote' it means the option is built to order and not in our price book (for Amarr: Classica Flush and Full View, Horizon, Foundry Reserve, Amarr by Design; for either brand: any odd size). Send the spec anyway and Eric prices it in writing. Commercial roll-up doors are quoted per opening.
